Renatum — Latin for rebirth — exists to pursue excellence in choral performance, to connect communities through creative storytelling, and to serve as a national model for professional choral ensembles in rural America.
Our singers are paid, auditioned professionals drawn from across the region and the country. Our home is West Virginia's Eastern Panhandle — proof that rural America is a place of artists, intellect, and cultural vitality.

In The Witness, composer Thomas LaVoy transforms the firsthand account of Civil War soldier James Waxler — drawn from his 1880 handwritten memoir — into a gripping choral theater experience, weaving together moments of courage, grief, sacrifice, and hope through the eyes of soldiers, civilians, enslaved people, and families forever changed by the conflict.
Powerful, poignant, and profoundly relevant, The Witness is not simply a concert, but a simultaneous act of remembrance and call to action.
